REV. DR. JENNIE B. VAUGHN
the legacy
Our Founder
Rev. Dr. Jennie B. Vaughn was given a vision at the tender age of 8 years old that she would one day be in Nashville Tennessee and would spread the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
But just as Jesus on his way to Galilee, had to first go through Samaria John 4, so did Rev. Vaughn have to first stop in Cleveland, Ohio before fulfilling the prophesy of Nashville. It is in Cleveland, where the
Lord spoke to her and instructed her to establish a church for the purpose of worshipping the almighty GOD.
Beginning with just nine members, she incorporated the “Holiness Science Organization” on March 11, 1950. She set a new precedence for worship according to the true spiritualistic teachings as given by the bible. We were assembled for the establishment of a church of Christ and for the education of the deeper truth of GOD. A religious organization set apart from the popular denominations present at the time.
In the beginning, services were held at the home of Sam and Mary Colbert until a suitable building was found. Her dedication, commitment and trust in GOD led her as she pastored for 56 years until her death. Under her leadership, the church grew from nine to over 300 with locations in both, Cleveland Ohio and Nashville, Tennessee fulfilling the prophesy given in her youth.

Her Successor
Rev. Theresa R. Hatcher
Rev. Theresa R. Hatcher, the former Presiding Minister, followed in the footsteps of Rev. Vaughn and carried the torch from 2006 and pastored for 15yrs until her death in 2021. Under her leadership, as Pastor and Overseer of the headquarters in Cleveland, Rev. Hatcher acquired the land needed to finish the dream of our Founder to build a new sanctuary. She attracted more young people and developed a youth ministry to prepare a new and stronger generation of workers and believers. She was instrumental in keeping our foundation rooted in the spiritualistic teachings of our Founder. Under her leadership, outreach programs were initiated to minister unto those less fortunate than us. She was successful in each drive to provide food for the hungry, free clothing, blankets and toiletries for the homeless and even back to school items for the youth. She led by example with “unconditional” love.
