 Jesus Teaches About Lust

  Scripture:  Matthew 5:27-30

27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’[e]28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

REFLECTION:

I understand that my lustful and/or sinful desires can lead to actions that may impact myself and others in a way that may hurt them, it may destroy my relationships, it may cause me to make excuses for my sin.  Maybe I need to consider why I have this desire, what do I feel I am missing?  How can I handle this better?

APPLICATION:

Examine my heart and try to take time to think and pray, before I act.

PRAYER:

Lord, I thank you for meeting me where I am.  Help me to surrender my thoughts to you, before I act.  Help me to consider how my sin may impact myself and others. Help me Lord where I am weak, because I want to live to please you.  Give me the wisdom to handle the desires I have that are not pleasing to you.
