Jesus Teaches About Asking, Seeking, and Knocking
Matthew 7: 7-12
7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
9 “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
REFLECTION:
Jesus tells me to persist in pursuing Him. I have to consider what this means to me; to ask, to seek, and to knock. To me it means to make my request and seek his face for my will for his request and then to be persistent in asking for the object of my request. But more importantly I should be treating others the way I want to be treated. So, I have to examine how I have treated others.
APPLICATION:
I will identify the object of my request or petition and ask God/Jesus, seek his will and ask persistently. And I will be mindful of how I treat others.
PRAYER:
Lord even now, I ask that you reveal yourself to me so that I can learn even deeper what it means to ask, seek and knock. And I ask that you help me to do unto others as I would have them do to me. Help me to make others as important as I make myself.
